Solksjaer handed transfer blow after Benfica reach agreement with Star
Dias is highly rated at Manchester United and is one of their top targets this summer but the cense-back will be hard to obtain.
Portuguese newspaper A Bola say that Dias is set to sign a new contract with Benfica that would see his value rise to around €100m.
Dias’ current buyout clause is €60m but his increase in wages and improved terms would bump that up to an astronomical number.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is also after Dias’ team-mate Joao Felix, who has been linked with Liverpool and Manchester City too.

Wilfried Zaha discusses Man Utd return after direct messages from fans
Former Manchester United winger Wilfried Zaha says he is regularly asked about returning to Old Trafford - and did not rule out the possibility.
Zaha moved to United in 2013 to become Sir Alex Ferguson’s last signing, and was immediately loaned back to Crystal Palace.
By the time he started at Old Trafford, Ferguson had retired, and Zaha endured a difficult start to life at the club. Loans at Cardiff - under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer - and Palace again followed, with a permanent return to Selhurst Park secured in 2015.
In all, Zaha made just four senior appearances for United, but has gone on to establish himself as a key player for Palace in the Premier League.
His form has prompted fans to wonder if Zaha will ever return to Old Trafford as a much more complete player than when he left, and the winger has admitted he is regularly asked about his future.
He told the Evening Standard: “I’m getting DMs [direct messages on Twitter]: ‘Would you come back to Man Utd?’”
Pogba Saga
Juventus sporting director discusses Paul Pogba transfer plans
The Juventus sporting director, Fabio Paratici, says the club will not pursue transfer targets this summer until a new manager is installed.
The Serie A side have been linked with a move for Manchester United’s Paul Pogba, with the midfielder’s future at Old Trafford increasingly uncertain. Pogba spent six years at Juventus before his club-record move to United in 2016.
Juventus lost manager Max Allegri at the end of last season and have still to appoint a replacement.
Federico Chiesa, the Fiorentina winger, has also been linked with a move to the Old Lady, but Paratici insists that his club’s transfer business is on hold until a new manager is found.
“Federico Chiesa? We certainly have a competitive team,” Paratici told a Football Leader 2019 event. “As far as the market is concerned, we await the name of the coach.
“We will make the necessary assessments after announcing it. Pogba? The same, we’ll speak with the new coach.”
Stories linking Manchester United with Philippe Coutinho earlier this year might have been from the realms of fantasy, but the Brazilian was the type of player that would have filled a void in the squad.

Now United have turned their attentions to a creative midfielder who has watched Coutinho and tried to add elements of his game into his own. James Maddison has tried to learn from the best in developing his craft and that includes watching videos of similar players to him. He’s watched David Silva closely as well in his quest to be the best.
The beaches of Rio de Janeiro, where Coutinho grew up, might be a long way from the streets of Coventry, where Maddison was raised, but there are similarities in what they have bought to the Premier League.
In the final weeks of the season United’s goal-shy strikers were the lightning rod for much frustration. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side scored just eight goals in the final 12 games of the season and while the attack was misfiring, the lack of creativity behind them was also a significant factor in United’s inability to threaten opposition defences.
When Solskjaer’s United are allowed to play on the break creativity is less of an issue, with the speed of transition and the pace of the forwards becoming the best method with which to create chances. But as teams worked out United the space to counter attack became limited, which is when the lack of a creative midfielder became an issue.
